May 2019 Scavenger Photo Hunt

Another month, another selection of interesting topics to search out.  As we were away in Scotland for a week this month I wanted to try and use original pictures, not so many from my archives.  So here is my interpretation of the titles.

Seat

We went to stay with our son and daughter-in-law and their two Labradors.  One day we went to Loch  Leven to give the dogs a run and a swim -  their best thing.  I am always amazed how all dogs here in the UK seem to get on with one another.  At one point we had 12 dogs running and playing together and our two labs were the only duplicates of a breed.  There was a Hungarian Vizsler, Border Collie, Spaniel, Basset, Grey Hound and various other dogs.  It was mayhem but fun to watch!!

I saw a suitable seat as we walked to the Loch but there were people  around it and when we returned a couple were sitting there having their lunch.  But then I found this beautiful bench but it was not overlooking the Loch, rather facing the farm field in the distance.

The spider on the side was so beautifully carved that I had to take a more detailed photograph of it.

View from the seat

The seat was facing away from Loch Leven overlooking farm fields and distant hills, also a lovely view, just not what I had planned.

Lunch

Fish and chips in a restaurant in Seahouses, Northumberland, taken a few years ago.

Starts with a P

Nearby our son and daughter-in-law's house is this little Park and Playground.  It seems like a quiet corner of green but just behind that row of trees is a huge Supermarket!

Transport

Some years back we took our grandsons to see the Motor Museum in the Lake District.  It has the most amazing selection of vintage cars as well as a replica of Donald Campbell's Blue Bird speed boat.

My own choice

This  picture was taken from Stirling Castle towards the William Wallace Monument, an imposing Victorian tower built to honour the Scottish hero.  We visited it last time we were in Scotland. It was quite a walk to the top but fortunately  a mini bus was on hand to take up those who did not want the climb.

That's it for May. Now off to look at all the other photographs.

  1. Unusual seat - quite sculptural - looks like you had a lovely holiday up in Scotland :)

    1. Yes I saw even more in that seat when I looked back at all the pictures at home. Stone different on back to front, the shaped seat and then all the detail around the spider. The snail and some writing too.xx

  2. I do like your "Northern" selection & have also visited the transport museum in Cumbria, which we both loved. The stone seat is probably my favourite with it's quirky spider. Thanks for sharing & take care.

    1. Yes, we too loved the spider, there is even more to it than shows in that picture, there is the snail and writing too. Keep well, gather it is bit cold your way!!

  3. I had to look twice at the playground shot as it's almost identical to one of mine taken locally last summer while walking someone else's dog. I like the view from the seat but my favourite has to be the last one :)

    1. Thank you. I love the bridge in the bottom of the last picture, looks as though it is old. The view from the monument was even better as it was across part of the Forth too.X

  4. Oh that seat. The spider carving is wonderful. Not at all creepy. Such a pity the view was not over the Loch but you can't have it all! That portion of fish and chips is huge! I could not eat half of it but could share it with you!

  5. That was a huge serving of fish on that plate - two pieces each. We always asked for doggy bags to take a piece home and have for supper next day with new potatoes and salad. Lovely. x

  6. Beautiful photographs. The carved seat is wonderful and the view lovely too, a good place to sit for a while. The transport museum looks interesting and I love your wonderful photo taken from Stirling Castle, how wonderful the town and monument look:)

    1. Thank you. We all loved the transport museum, the grandsons were much younger but they enjoyed it very much. We were lucky with the weather as it had been misty on most days so to see the Wallace Memorial from Stirling Castle was a unexpected bonus. :)

  7. Wow what a view - I've driven past Stirling Castle many times but never thought about climbing up there.
And the spider on the side of the seat is just beautiful.

    1. I agree, what a view. The occupants of the castle must have had a wonderful 360 deg view of approaching enemy soldiers from up there. :)

  10. Yes I loved that seat too though it would have been nicer still had it overlooked the Loch. :)

  11. What a great seat and still a lovely view.
Yum, look at those chips! They don't make them like that here, bummer.
That's a lot of transportation, it's fun to see the older ways.
Nice view from the castle, nice to have transport there!

  12. Thank you. Yes I felt lucky to have found such a lovely seat. Instead of my usual 'African' themed pictures I wanted to take suitable photographs whilst on a week in Scotland and was thrilled to find it. I presume 'chips' don't feature on US menu's. That is a shame, there is nothing like fish and chips either in a restaurant or take away ....much better than I can make at home.
