This
little silk covered heart box belonged to my mother. She was given it by friends who had lived in
Hong Kong for many years. I love
it. Some of you who have followed
Hawthorn’s February blog for some years may recognise it. It is actually a double heart entry as the
lock to my charm bracelet is also heart shaped. It wasn’t till I looked back at
the photograph that I realised that the picture on the bottom of the lid was
actually upside down when the box is closed.
I have had it for years too and never noticed it!!
I'd forgotten that little heart box, I can see it now on her white dressing table in Harare. You know - I'd never noticed it was'upside down' yet it is one I've known all my life!
ReplyDeleteYou see something everyday but when it is out of its normal setting you can see something quite different.x

DeleteWhat a beautiful box. Ah, yes a two heart entry & I see what you mean by the picture upside down on the lid. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI have 21 charms on that bracelet. One, the little elephant, has a ruby eye and was originally on a chain. It was only when I was looking to see if the charms were showing up nicely that I noticed the boats and Chinese men were the right way up and I realised I had never really seen them upside down before. The flowers are more obvious when it is closed. x
DeleteI used to have a little heart shaped box like that! How strange that the fabric is the wrong way up on the lid and you'd never noticed it before. Funny how you can look at something for years and then one day you see something different.
ReplyDeleteIt must be because it is upside down that I noticed it. x
